In old orders a sigil marked who you were and who stood with you. Ink Sigil carries that idea on chain: each one is a numbered sigil you hold on Ink.

Rarity
Four colors, fixed counts. Only 44 Void sigils exist in the whole collection, and that number never changes.
Genesis
The altar reads Genesis because this is the first chapter. Every sigil is numbered from 1 to 4440.
